Trim is the detail people notice without knowing why. A room with tight mitres, level runs and properly filled nail holes reads as finished. The same room with gapped corners and visible seams reads as unfinished no matter how good the paint on the walls is. Because we paint as well as install, trim gets treated as part of the finish rather than as carpentry somebody else has to come back and coat. Nail holes are filled, gaps are caulked, and the profile is primed and painted so the line between trim and wall disappears. That is the difference between trim that was installed and trim that was finished.

How much does baseboard and trim installation cost in Orange County?
Standard baseboard installation runs $5 to $8 per linear foot, covering the installation itself and the finishing that goes with it. More detailed trim, and crown moulding, runs $8 to $15 or more per linear foot depending on the profile and how high it sits. To put that in room terms: a bedroom with roughly 50 linear feet of standard baseboard lands around $250 to $400, and crown moulding in that same room would be $400 to $750. What moves the number is the complexity of the profile, ceiling height for crown work, how square the walls and corners actually are, whether existing trim has to come off first, and how much the wall needs patching where it was removed. Prices are all-in including materials and labour. Our typical minimum job is $300 to $500, estimates are free, and the work carries a two-year workmanship warranty.
How does Onyx GC do the work?
We start by protecting the work area. Furniture is moved away from the walls or to the centre of the room as needed, and floors, furniture, fixtures, cabinets and anything not being worked on are covered and masked. We then prep all surfaces as needed, including filling nail holes and minor imperfections, caulking gaps, sanding, and spot-priming repairs or bare areas. We typically apply two finish coats unless the product or existing condition calls for otherwise, and we primarily use Sherwin-Williams — Duration, Emerald and Gallery Series, depending on the application. At the end of each workday we clean and organise the work area, remove unnecessary debris, and keep tools and materials consolidated. At completion we walk the job with you and take care of any touch-ups.
